NWSL Supporters Spotlight: The Boston Armada

NWSL Supporters Spotlight is back with a look at the supporters group for the Boston Breakers, the Boston Armada. Member Sara Brande shares more about about this dedicated group of fans.

When did the group start and why?

The Armada began in NWSL season 1 as a way for Breakers fans to interact and join together in support of the team. We’ve built a dedicated, loyal community that stands up for the Breakers no matter what.

What are some things that your group does on game day or before game day?

The Armada prepares tifo and chants before game day, and hosts tailgates and energizes The Cove (our section in the stadium) on game days. We put all of our energy into supporting our Breakers to let them know that no matter what, we’re here for them and we’ll support them forever.

Where can people find you before/during the game?

In the small parking lot next to the entrance to Jordan Field is where we hold our pregame tailgates. During matches you can find us in The Cove (Section 5) in Jordan Field in Allston, MA. Follow the blue smoke! For away games, we meet at The Rising in Inman Square.

What can people expect if they join you for a game?

A lot of fun, cheering, game talk, and hopefully blue smoke whenever the Breakers score a goal!

What is your favorite part of being in a supporters group?

My favorite part of being in a supporters group is having a community of dedicated WoSo fans. I love knowing that there are other people out there who believe in and support women’s soccer financially and emotionally.

The Boston Armada can be found on Twitter: https://twitter.com/bostonarmada, Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thebostonarmada/ and at http://www.bostonarmada.com/

If you are ever in Boston, make sure you take some time to say hi to the Armada as they gather and watch both home and away games in the Boston area!
