2016 was a wild year for the USWNT. Coming off of their Women’s World Cup victory in 2015 and seemingly poised to repeat as gold medalists at the Rio Olympic games, things did not exactly go as planned, to say the least. Who knew that the inaugural She Believes Cup would be the final time I would photograph a game that featured Hope Solo in goal? 2016 also saw the debut of 17 year old phenom Mallory Pugh, and the post-Olympic games ended up being the long-awaited debut of players who made a name for themselves playing in the NWSL.
Please enjoy a gallery of some of my favorite images from the games I photographed this year.
